This is probably my favorite part of being an intern.... we get the whole WEEK off for Thanksgiving!!! Such a blessing. As a result, I am currently home thoroughly enjoying my queen-size bed and FREE LAUNDRY!! (haha, Gabriel!)
November has literally FLOWN by and I can't believe 2009 is coming to an end. As far as the internship goes, November has been a pretty normal month, especially compared to how October was! I've gotten to sing on the Kirkland stage twice this month and had so much fun. This Sunday was a total surprise because we got to sing with Pastor Wendy, who I've heard so much about. She has a great voice! Such an honor to sing with her, and I'm just a first-year intern!
I love the people here and am getting to know them so much better; we truly are like a big family. I have to tell this MIRACLE that God performed in one of the lives of my friend and fellow intern! Before Interns even started, we had a downpayment of $2000 or so. This lady in my friend's life said she wanted to bless her and pay for her downpayment. Of course, my friend was so grateful - God had answered her prayer! As the weeks passed, she got an email from the church's accounting office stating that the lady's payment hadn't been received so my friend now owes the $1500 or $2000. My friend had lost her job a few weeks before and had NO way to pay the money back. What's great is that this internship program and the pastors here work with us on our financial situations. They look for any reason to keep us here because they feel they are responsible for us! Even with all that in mind, they told her she'd have to leave if she didn't get enough money by the time we got off for Thanksgiving Break. She needed a miracle. So, our pastor brought the situation to all of the interns and asked that if we could give anything, it'd be greatly appreciated. But he made it clear that if we're strapped for money, it would be unwise for us to do so. For those who weren't in a financial situation, please just give the money to him, because if we don't raise enough money, he's just going to give it back to the individual people. But he also said that he's seen interns raise $5000 for several interns who were in similar situations in years past. We had about 24 hours until the deadline. HERE'S THE MIRACLE: by the end of lunch, several hundreds of dollars had been raised and by the next morning, enough had been raised so she could stay!!!! God is so faithful.... Yet again, He has taken what the Devil meant for evil and has turned it around for good!!! If that doesn't describe the local church, I don't know what does. Seriously.
As for my break, I'm looking forward to doing some sleeping, hanging out with all the friends who are also coming home, and spending time with family while eating some delicious food. I'll be at both my home churches this weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!
THANK YOU, to all of you who keep me in your prayers! It means so much and truly makes a difference in my life.
God is so good and we have SO MUCH to be thankful for! Have a fantastic Thanksgiving, everyone! :-)

A Time to Rest
Oh man, I had such a restful weekend, which was such a blessing when you consider the CRAZY past 3 weeks we've had. I slept in super late yesterday and just kind of relaxed until I went to some church stuff that night. Then I was up quite early this morning because I'm now in the media track for the next 2 months! So I got to operate an actual camera today, and they said I actually did a good job. Who knew? Haha!
God's given me SUCH favor here in the music department, and the creative arts pastor asked if I'd be a part of the gospel group he's putting together. I agreed, and another first-year intern from New York is also in it. (Her voice is beautiful!!) Thursday was our first rehearsal and it went really well. We just got to know each other and worked on a couple songs we'll be performing. Our first "performance" or whatever is Nov. 15, which is also the week I'm scheduled to sing so it should be good! If you're not doing anything, you should come down - it'll be fun. :-)
I've been talking to other interns and everyone is saying that our year/class is so different from last year's. Especially as far as musicians are concerned, they've never had a first-year class so talented. So many of us have already been on a Sunday worship team at one of the church's 6 campuses - so exciting! We're being utilized and leading right from the get-go.... which is so cool considering that I expected to not lead at all for the 9 months I'm going to be here. I was willing to give it up and go "undercover," if you will, and just learn and be kind of "faceless." But God had other plans, and He just keeps surprising me! And not just me, but other interns as well. We totally came to this internship willing to serve, learn, and grow, without ever stepping foot onto a stage. But God is so faithful, and He gives us the desires of our hearts when we delight in Him! It's exciting to see His plans unfold. :-)
Thanksgiving Break is the last week of November and it'll be so nice to go home, see family and friends and have homecooked meals! Haha!
